The divine
Down through the ages many have visualised God as a severe masculine entity with human characteristics.
"And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness..." [from Genesis 1:26, Holy Bible]
The patriarchal, tribal, and warring desert cultures that spawned several of the world's great religions would not have been able to assimilate or respect God with any other aspect.
This was a truth of its times, a transient truth[1].
The transcendent truth is unknowable[2]. Each instant of our consciousness is perhaps a manifestation of the absolute Divine. Yet, while we have the Divine within us, the Divine is probably also beyond our understanding and visualisation.
